The Roya Valley: The paradise of canyoning !!
The famous Côte d’ Azur – join us for some marvellous days of sports and exploration in the magnificent and pristine hinterland of the French Riviera. Discover the hinterland near the Mercantour National Park, its crystal clear fresh water and enchanting Provençal hilltop villages. But one of the greatest pleasures in this part of the planet is the opportunity of having lunch or dinner, Provencal-style. With regional delicacies such as fresh fish, peppers, olives, garlic and fine ‘vin rosé’, this really is foodie heaven.
Day 1: Saturday
The Roya and Nervia valleys are situated in the Southern Alps in the hinterland of the French and Italian Riviera The rail, road and airport networks from the UK to us are all very good, so you have a big choice of how to get here. Fly to the nearest airports. Having a car in the valley is generally recommended.
The nearest city is Nice, the nearest airport is Nice International Airport. the nearest TGV station is Nice and the local train station is Breil sur Roya (1h from Nice)
Itinerary if you arrive by road.
HIGHTWAY CANNES NICE MONACO VENTIMIGLIA (Italie) go out the highway in VENTIMIGLIA
Take the ticket 400m after payment Imediatly after the payment take on the left the direction of CUNEO
Folow the road during 2 miles turn on the right on the bridge follow the raod in direction of CUNEO during 20km(12 miles) you cross the village of BREIL SUR ROYA after the village you found the railway station on the left
Meeting point on the parking of the railway station at 4pm. Private parking for your car.
Accomodation in a farm house, villa or mongol yourt with rooms from 1 to 6 beds, bed linen provided, toilet bags not provided. Choose your accomodation
Day 2: Sunday Canyoning Audin: easy
By cars(10mn) to the entry of the Audin, ideal for families (children minimum age 8 years). Lots of jumps (maxi 8m) toboggans (one of 10m ), no abseiling.
The color of the water (you can drink it!), the size of the natural swimming pool, the temperature of the water (20°C in summer) make for one of the most popular trips of the region. 35mn-walk, back 15mn. Duration 3h; Picnic in the canyon
Day 3: Monday Canyoning Fanghetto: easy
By cars (15mn) to the entry of the Fanghetto, ideal for families (children minimum age 8 years) Lots of jumps (maxi 8m) toboggans, abseiling maxi 10m.
The color of the water (you can drinkit!), the size of the natural swimming pool, the temperature of the water (20°C in summer). 40mn-walk, back 5mn. Duration 3h; Picnic in the canyon
Day 4: Tuesday Hike in the National Park of Mercantour
By cars (35mn) to Casterino. Hiking in the Mercantour National Park, in the “Vallée des Merveilles” to discover the engravings dating from the Bronze Age, wild animals, ibex, chamois, marmot, eagle, thousands of flowers. Duration 5/6h, difference in altitude 600m
Day 5: Wednesday. Rafting Roya : less difficult
Transfer (10mn) to the River Roya.
We generally use 2-place-rafts called canoe raft or hot dog. But you can try the “airboat” which is a very funny and sporty individual raft. Your mini raft allows you to go down on one of the river: the Roya.
The mini raft is available to everybody, including children from 10 years old, accompanied by their parents. You must be a good swimmer however.
The descent lasts approximately 2 hours for 6 km.
Day 6: Thursday canyoning :
Transfer (15mn) to Basssera called the “wild canyon”. Lots of jumps (maxi 6m) toboggans (one of 5m ), abseiling (maxi 8m) Duration 3h30, 30mn-walk, back 5mn. Picnic in the canyon (during the canyoning we take high-calorie food)
Day 7: Friday end of the stay around 11am

This sport activity is available for every body children from 8 years. The knowledge of the rope technique is not necessary. Your guide, who will always be at your disposal, will teach you in a short time. You must be a good swimmer however.
Equipment: The personal equipment should include: one pair of tennis shoes for walking in the water and one swimsuit. Warm and waterproof clothing, walking shoes. The rest of the equipment will be supplied according to the personal information you will give: your size and your weight.
